What Causes Vaginal Spotting After A Total Hysterectomy?
Question: I am a 66 year old female and have been in menopause after a total hysterectomy in 2002. Until a few months ago I took Estradiol patch with no ill effects. However, I find more symptoms returning. Even before going off the patch, I have thin skin and bleeding or seeping areas in the vaginal area, primarily outside the vagina. I have tried some OTC creams but still suffer from some itching (treated for yeast) so that is not the cause. Please advise on whether I should go back on patch or what cream or treatment should I use for the uncomfortable condition I am experiencing? Thank You. XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
Start the patch again
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concerns.
These vaginal effects are due to thinned out vaginal skin. This happens after you stop patch in some women.
Hence it is advisable to restart the patch for relief. This is not yeast infection.
You Can Alternatively use estrogen cream for local application instead of patch. These can be bought with prescription only.
Let me know if you need anymore help.
Regards
