What Causes Vaginal Spotting After Positive Pregnancy Test?

Question: Hi,
I started what i thought was my period 12 days ago. I thought it was just extremely light. I had slight cramping/discomfort, I almost never get cramps. Last night I realized how long I have been spotting for and got worried. I took two pregnancy tests and they both showed up positive. I read about implantation bleeding but it should only be 3 days of bleeding not 12 right? I have also considered a miscarriage. I found out Saturday night and today is Sunday so I cannot go to the doctors, but I would like more insight into what could be happening
thanks

Hi,
The firsrlt day of my last period was 1/20/17. I started bleeding this month on the 15th, but I dont think it is my period. I have regular cycles, maybe 2 days early or late at the most. I have never been pregnant before and I am having slight lower back pain but not dominant on one side or the other.

Brief Answer:
If the tests are positive, you are DEFINITELY pregnant
Detailed Answer:
1. That would make you 5 2/7 weeks pregnant
2. The symptoms that you are describing are not that concerning
3. The bleeding you had on the 15th was likely related to implantation
4. If you have been bleeding daily since the 15th without stopping, then an ectopic pregnancy is a greater concern
This would easily be sorted out with an ultrasound. The earliest that you can see a fetal heart rate is about 6 weeks. At the very least, though, you should be able to see a pregnancy in the uterus or not at this point. You need to call and get in for an ultrasound as soon as possible.
