What Causes Variation In The Menstruation Cycle And Ovulation Dates?

default
Posted on Thu, 16 Apr 2015
Question: Day 21 progesterone is less than 1 but cycles vary between 28 and 35 days. Last month was 40 days though the rest are usually regular. Does it mean I don't ovulate and I will never conceive naturally?

Please help I am worried to death. Not go no children and really want a baby

Please can you help me. I am worried sick. I am trying to conceive I have always had regular cycles varying from 27-31 day cycles. In January I had a 30 day cycle which I am fine about but in February I completely missed a period (negative pregnancy test) Doctor did a Day 21 Progesterone and it came back as not ovulated as was at less than 1. I finally came on at the beginning of March which then gave me a 41 day cycle. I have had another Day 21 this month and it has come back the same as less than 1. I am currently on day 27 of my cycle? Should I worry that I am not ovulating or is it because I have had the late period? I am worried it might be the menopause and I really want a baby. I am trying so hard. I have got an appointment with Fertility Specialist next week but I wonder if you can help me before then please. What if I don't ovulate? What if I have low progesterone I want to conceive naturally. I have had Day 21 in the past and everything has been good and Day 3 FSH was 4.2 which I believe is good.

Do you really see I need to panic? Please help asap. Please help I am crying that I will never be a MUM

Many thanks

Brief Answer:
Progesterone supplement needed

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I read your query and I understand your concerns about low progesterone on day21.

Following is my reply:

1) Progesterone levels on Day 21 are low. Though you ovulate, you might be having decreased progesterone .

2) This is called luteal phase defect.

3) You need to supplement with progesterone tablets after your ovulation to correct luteal phase progesterone.

4) Please get regular follicular growth scan done to check ovulation rather than clearblue fertility monitor.

5) When you see ovulation on ultrasound scan start injections and tablets of progesterone which will increaseprogesterone and help you in getting pregnancy.

6) Meanwhile get HSG ( hysterosalpingogram ) test for your self and Semen analysis for your partner.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

IVF is best option

Detailed Answer:
Hi

IVF is best option for early pregnancy Considering your age and past history.

You are not getting so soon in to menopause. Dont worry.

This low progesterone is temporary. Just take progesterone supplements. You will be fine.
