Brief Answer:
Further evaluation needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

There are few things to clarify about your symptoms.

How long did you experienced those symptoms? Are the symptoms worsening, or are they the same? Are there any situations or medicaments that improve your symptoms? Are there situations that worsen your symptoms? Did you had any brain imaging study done? (MRI)

About memory, you have problems with recent situations or with past ones?

Any prolonged alcohol use, any vitamin B12 level measured?

Blood pressure you refer is considered pathological, so there is need for blood pressure control with drugs.

In my opinion, symptoms you describe indicate two main possible diagnoses: dementia ( poorly supported by your age) and psychological problems ( attention deficit disorder).

In order to diagnose correctly your condition, a brain MRI and blood tests about anemia, vitamin B12 levels needed to be done.

Hope this helps. I remain at your disposal for further questions or clarifications.
Best regards.

Hello Dr. Erion,

I have not drank alcohol in 32 years as I do not like the taste of it.
B12 tests I am not sure but I do not think so
The symptoms have been with me for a good 5 years maybe more
I feel good just after I get up in the morning after a cup of tea with sugar in it.
I seem to feel worse mid morning onwards
I get a bit light headed when I am driving and at heights but I used to drive all over the country for a job.
I have not had a brain study done
I used to remember the smallest detail now it is hit and miss if I remember things
My vision gets a bit blurry sometimes and I find it really hard to concentrate but sugar seems to give me a bit of clarity I believe
My symptoms come and go but they seem to be with me more than not.
Thank you,

Brief Answer:
Brain imaging needed.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back XXXXXXX and thanks for the clarifications.

In my opinion, there is need for a neurological evaluation (especially memory function) and a brain imaging study (MRI), order to properly diagnose your condition.

About sugar blood levels, did they resulted lower than normal ranges? ( Hypoglicemia)

If so, then there is an explanation of most of your symptoms.

Again, you need to have a correct control of your blood pressure.

I suggest you to discuss with your primary care Doctor these issues and the possibility of having a brain MRI done.

Hope I helped you. Best regards.
