Brief Answer:
A neurologist
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Read your query
I am quite sure that you would need to meet a neurologist/psychiatrist.
There are a couple of possible possibilities, all of which are managed by a neurologist that may be causing the symptom-
1. Positional vertigo
2. Alcohol withdrawal
3. Meningo encephalitis and others.
Amongst these, I think the main possibility one needs to consider is alcohol withdrawal in your case. Alcohol causes a dependance that one needs to make sure is corrected well. You have been in recovery for 6 months. I think you should stick to it. Stay motivated. It can take almost upto one year after withdrawal for the symptoms to go
Best of luck

Thanks Doctor, I am doing so well in recovery and have had NO alcohol or xanax since the beginning of April. These "Vertigo" symptoms have only been the last 2 months with the last week being the worst - how do people function? No one I know in AA has experienced this after the initial detox -
I have to move slowly all the time - im a single mom - normal things like bathing and household chores are an issue - thank God im not working yet - long term disability

The symptoms usually happen on moving head.
