Brief Answer: Symptom called vertigo, causes listed sir Detailed Answer: Hello sir and welcome. Thank you for writing to us. The symptom you are experiencing is called 'Vertigo'. Vertigo is a spinning-like movement which occurs due to dysfunction of the vestibular system. There are various causes for the symptom, and I shall list all the causes for you, so you may relate to them and write back to me if you can relate to any particular cause in your specific case. The causes are as follows: -Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo: It is the most common cause for vertigo, and occurs due to the accumulation of crystals inside the inner ear -Ear infections (eg. otitis media): In association with infections, you may have other symptoms like ear pain, itching, fever, etc. -Migraine headaches: Vertigo is one of the symptoms of migraine headaches, and others include nausea; vomiting; sensitivity to noise, smell, light; etc. -Blood flow abnormalities: Resulting in reduced blood flow to the base of the brain. Usually seen in the elderly, due to other blood related conditions (eg. abnormalities of the blood vessels, blood coagulation abnormalities, etc.) -Meniere's disease -Inflammation of the inner ear (eg. labyrinthitis) -Injury to the ear or head -Tumors or cancer (rare) As you can see sir, the causes vary quite a bit. And I am sure it is nothing serious, but the symptom of vertigo is nevertheless restricting. So I would request you to visit either a neurologist or an ENT (ear, throat, nose) specialist who will most certainly help accurately diagnose and treat your condition sir. I hope you find my response both helpful and informative. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help. Best wishes.
