What Causes Visible Mucus In Stool In An Infant?

Mucus in Stool can be Normal in a breastfed baby
Detailed Answer:
hi .
thank you for posting query @HCM.
firstly, there is NO alternative to mother's milk and its great that your baby is being exclusively breastfed.
noticed that you already have modified diet since last few weeks but the baby still has much mucus content in the stool.
as the baby is breastfed, and his weight and height is normal,so nothing to worry. Most of the ingested milk (breast) maybe very well digested and absorbed; resulting in very little waste remains. Therefore, much of the content of the passing stool contains mucus which should not be concerning.
however, your advised to avoid spicy food, beef, canned food and food containing artificial flavorings. Your encouraged to ingest home prepared food (which you already might be practicing).
if you see any untoward symptom in your baby (other than mucus in stool), contact your treating physician and/or you may post your concern at HCM.
