Symtoms 10 months, have gotten worse. Diagnosed with XXXXXXX Bonnett syndrome, visual only. Have been prescribed, sequel, Zoloft, abilify. One at a time with no help sequel made her fall asleep at a very small dose. Is on warfarin 2.5, dilitram, and 5mg prednisone, has been on prednisone for 30 years. She is now going to a Neuro-pychitrist to be diagnosed. I am thinking it could be Pseudo dementia after reading about it. Has had many infections and was treated with anti biotic's, had bouts of hallucinations while in the hospital being treated. Help this is terriable.

Brief Answer:
Needs investigations

Detailed Answer:
Hello
The visual hallucinations are not the routine hallucinations of psychiatric disorders. They indicate presence of some organicity. At 78 years a person presenting with visual hallucinations need to be investigated. She will need an MRI scan and some blood tests like Serum electrolytes and Liver function tests and thyroid profile. She should proceed with her visit to a neuro-psychiatrist. Haloperidol could be a good drug for such hallucinations as it is a non-sedating drug. This cannot be a pseudo dementia as it is a totally different thing. It is a dementia occuring cause of psychological reasons mostly depression.
Also her visual acuity needs to be checked, and if she has any visual difict the same needs to be corrected. Correction of visual deficits should reduce visual hallucinations if it is a XXXXXXX bonnet syndrome.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
