What Causes Warts On Penis?

Question: Hello my husband has two maybe three small wart like structures on the shaft of his penis...I was thinking it might be mulluscum contagiousum but I am not sure ...how would he get this on his penis? would he have to have sex with another person or could it come from an inanimate object? how
