What Causes Watery Vaginal Discharge After A Vaginal Scan?
I am 26 years old and recently married and I am not pregnant. I have undergone my first transvaginal scan last week to confirm my PCOD. The next day, i got little blood spotting along with heavy watery discharge of clear liquid(almost like water) and it is continuing till date. Also I am having pain/cramp which I usually get during my periods. But I have never experienced such watery discharge before.
During ultrasound, the doc didn't explain the procedure first. (I was thinking it is abdominal scan and I never heard of this vaginal scan.) I got too scared and didn't cooperate properly, she stopped in middle and took abdominal scan.
Can you please tell me why I am getting heavy watery discharge after this scan and what should I do?
physiological cervical discharge
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to hcm,
Excessive vaginal discharge which is clear watery and seen especially after a vaginal scan due cervical stimulation is a natural physiological cervical homogenous discharge which is similar to the one during sexual excitation and also during mid ovulation period.
Alo seen in cases of cervical erosions which can occur due to local injury or abrasion and its the body's own protective and healing mechanism with increased vaginal cervical discharge.
The pain and cramp is due to likely uterine contraction which emulates sexual excitation. it is suggested that you should practice relaxation exercises and stop thinking about it and repeating the scenario in your mind again and again which can cause continuous sexual excitation and increased cervical physiological discharge.

I think you have given reply mostly around physiological reasons. But I am getting this watery discharge almost continuously for 4-5 hrs a day irrespective of the work i have engaged in(cooking, office, meetings etc). I am using pads all these days. Will this stop automatically after few days or should I undergo any medication? Is it quiet normal or any serious problem?
It should stop in few days.
Detailed Answer:
This should ideally stop on its own in about 4-5 days but if not then you must get a per speculum examination done followed by a PAP smear .
As there is no infection, foul smell or discolouration hence no antibiotics or antifungals are to be advocated.
And there is no need to worry, this shall subside in few days.
