What Causes Weakness And Severe Dehydration While Suffering From Stomach Infection?
Question: My wife is a 62 year old female, she had what we through was a stomach virus about 3 weeks ago and she has finally gotten over the GI symptoms the last 10 days but she is still very weak. She is eating better and says she is feeling better but still does not have much energy and has difficulty getting up, when she is up she can walk ok but is not able to go up the stairs.
Brief Answer:
Weakness seems to be the cause.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone very carefully through your query and understand your concerns. I think that she needs time to recover. Give her plenty of fluids to drink. Give her juicy fruits like citrus fruits, and bananas, as they contain plenty of potassium which should help. Give her paracetamol or acetaminophen if she has pain. Hopefully is a week she will feel energetic and would have no problem in getting up or climb stairs.
Let me know if I could help further.
