My concerns are: is this a side effect ( weakness) of jardiance or metformin or does one get weaker from diabetes? It says that there has been no medication tried, but that's not correct That was the whole concern of the question. I was diagnosed with diabetes this week and put on the medications in question, so all of this is new to me. With the medication, can I expect that this weakness will subside as my body adjust to it? What can I do to restore strength and energy? How do I reconcile carbohydrates vs sugar?
Brief Answer:
About blood glucose normalisation;
Detailed Answer:
Welcome back!
When the blood sugar has been high for a period of time, the normal glucose levels are perceived as low and it needs some days to the body to get adjusted with these levels. So the low energy you experience it is not considered a side effect of the medications but a ''new situation'' that the body should get learned with.
This is verified by checking the blood sugar, if it is within the normal levels ( 70-110 mg/ dl fasting and premeals and up to 140 mg/dl after meal) the above mentioned situation is verified. usually takes up to 2 weeks to get adjusted with normal blood levels.
If the blood sugar persists high, than you should see your treating physician again, perhaps the treatment should be modified.
The tablets you are taking usually do not cause hypoglicemia (levels under 70 mg/dl).
Jardiance can cause low blood pressure, check it and inform your physician if it is under 110/70 mm/hg.
About the carbohydrates, they represent the sugar.
Hope the information will help.
Best wishes,
