What Causes White Layer Around Circumcision After Applying Coconut Oil?
Question: I Had a circumscion 6 days ago. It was healing well but a day back I applied coconut oil every 3 hours 3 times and then after taking bath I saw that there was a white patch that was getting formed. I realised that something was wrong and I stopped applying the oil. I then started applying antiseptic liquid and have started taking Staphylex 500 mg tablets as anti biotics. I am able to walk etc, no fever, no pain when passing urine. The sutures have started falling down but this white layer is beginning to worry me. Can you advice when I will be able to wear my undies and pants. As I have a seperate room I am able to be without any clothes. Can you please guide? Thx.
Thx Dr. I have updated my question now with the latest trouble that I am having . Can you pls advise? Thx.

Brief Answer:
a picture is needed. ..
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I understand your concern.
Can you please provide a picture of the white coating on your penis?
It might be due to dirties accumulating as you did not have a shower during these days.
After the sutures will fall completely, you might be able to wear underwears.
Looking forward to have the picture in.

Brief Answer:
Nothing worrisome, not a sign for infection;will clear after bathing...
Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
I have just received your pictures and noted the white layer on your penis.
I do not see anything worrisome nor a sign for infection. The white layer is due to coconut oil you applied. Since you did not bathe, and applied coconut oil at the same time, altogether made this white layer appear.
Once you will have your first bathe after circumcision, this white layer will be cleared too.
By the 8th day, the sutures will be completely fallen off, and you'll be able to have a shower. However, you should follow your surgeon advice too in this matter.
Hope it answered to your queries! Let me know if I can be of further help!

Thanks Dr. I had started taking bath from the 3rd day of circumcision with lukewarm water. So the white layer could be to do with just the coconut oil..a mistake i did.
Also based on the pictures that i sent can you please estimate a timeframe by which I would be in a position to wear my pants and go to work?
Thanks

Brief Answer:
by 6th to 8th day usually. ...
Detailed Answer:
Hi back,
usually by 6th to 8th day you should be able to get back to normal activities including going to work.
As long as you are not having pain and no sign for infection, then shouldn't be a problem to wear your pants.
Unless you notice any of the above symptoms.
All the best!
