What Causes White Vaginal Discharge Inspite Of Being On Mirena?
I had mirena placed two months ago. Since then, I have had white vaginal discharge and itching which I thought was a yeast infection and used over the counter creams as well as a prescribed one. Then, I noticed smelly discharge which I treated with metro gel for BV. But now the past two weeks, I still have the constant vulva itching and excessive odorless watery discharge, could this be a mirena side effect? Or an infection?

Hello,
Welcome to Health Care Magic.
Thanks for writing.
I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad. I have read you question completely, i understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.
XXXXXXX is actually a foreign body, where ever there is a foreign body inside us, there is a tendency of it getting infected.
According to your history and described symptoms, I second your opinion that you did get a fungal infection which got cured lately.
But in my opinion the fungal infection caused some irritation inside and even outside your genitals which gave way to bacterial infections that later on caused other type of discharge.
Now I believe infection you had has almost subsided or is very minimal. But now your genitals are inflammed and they are irritable.
Now You need to do a few things:
1) Preferably consult your doctor.
2) Take tablet citerizine 10mg daily at night..
3) I would suggest my patients to use gynosporin r anti antiinflammatory cream to relieve symptoms.
4) Keep good hygiene.
5) Take brufen twice a day.
6) Drink much water.
7) I would also ask my patients to get urineR/E done and use ciprofloxacin for ger cover.
I hope these suggestions will help you.
I hope this answered your question. If you have more queries I am happy to answer.Otherwise rate and close the discussion
Regrads.

Hi,
Thanks for writing back,
Watery discharge is a common side effect of merina many people complain of it some with XXXXXXX symptoms of infections.
Some just complain of watery discharge ...but mostly complain is foul smell anf watery discharge.. this usually settles with time.
I would suggest you to meet you doctor if this does not settle in a week or so because then you will be needing some more meds or may be removal of merina and shifting to some other contraception.
I hope things get better soon.
Stay blessed.
Regards.
Dr.Muhammad Ahmad.
