Hello,
Greetings!
I saw the clinical pictures that you have uploaded.
I can make out that the normal lip markings have disappeared from one spot on the upper lip and it is looking pinkish and smooth. I think this is what you have referred as extra skin on the upper lip.
I do not feel that it is like Leukoderma or vitiligo. I think that is what you are worried about.
It may have occured due to application of lemon juice and leaving it overnight which could have irritated the area and caused mild inflammation.
It could also be due to the habit of biting or peeling off the skin on your lips with your fingers. Do you have such a habit?
Do not worry.
I would suggest you to apply plain coconut oil 2-3 times a day for 2 weeks. It should become better by then.
Do not bite / pick on your lips.
Do not use lemon juice on your lips.
Hope this helps you and relieves your anxiety.
Wishing you good health,

First of all Thank you Johny!
Relaxed to know it is not vitiligo. My biggest concern was this only.
I do not have any habit of biting my inner lips. I used lemon and almond oil overnight 2 days back.. Can the impact be now as well? After two days?
I also feel my inner upper lip is swollen up and the lip line is disturbed below or I feel since extra skin.
Should I use coconut oil inside my mouth? any other precaution to take?
My tip is of Upper lip is of much lighter shade hope it's because of the swelling and does not spread up.
Sorry to bombard you with questions but what should I use now and otherwise to protect my lips from sun?

Hello,

Yes, it is possible for the inflammation to occur even after 2 days since you had left it for a long time.
It is ok to use coconut oil on the inner aspect of the lip. There is no need of any special precaution.
The spot of skin which is inflammed looks swollen and since it has lost its normal skin markings, it looks lighter.
You could apply the same sunscreen what you use on your face on your lips as well for sun protection. Or else, you could look for a lip balm with a sunscreen added to it.
In case you are still worried or if you do not see much improvement in 4 weeks time, you could consult a dermatologist who could look at the lip using a special light called " Wood's lamp" to rule out vitiligo. However, as of now, I do not feel it looks like vitiligo. There is no associated swelling in vitiligo. But in your case, the lip looks slightly swollen.
Hope this helps you.
Take care.
