What Causes Yellow Stool With Mucus In An Infant?

Question: Hello!my daughter is 4mnths and 1week old,due to low breast milk 2 days back i introduced her cerelac rice cereal 1 scoop a day.Her stool is yellow with mucus,is this because of allergy should i stop it or continue
Brief Answer:
This may not be allergy - but age is too young for cerelac
Detailed Answer:
Hi...This doesn't look like allergy. But I suggest you to stop cerelac as the age is too young for cerelac.
If it had been allergy, there might be blood in stool, which is not there.

Detailed Answer:
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic.
I understand your concern.
Questions:
1. What was the birth weight and what is the current weight?
2. Does she have any unexplained vomiting?
Please get back to me with answers, so that I can guide you further.
Please avoid bottle feeding as much as possible. The best way to feed a baby of this age is only by spoon or paladey apart from breastfeeding.
Please do not feed the baby anything except milk (not even water) till 6 months of age. This is not a recommendation which be given only by me, this is an international recommendation as per World Health Organisation standards.
Regards - Dr. Sumanth
