The following are the most common causes of hiccoughs and belching

1. Gastritis
2. Low lobe infection of the lung
3. Diaphragm irritation
4. Kidney failure

Judging by your symptoms, it is most likely that you are suffering from gastritis. Here is what you should do

1. Tab Omeprazole is the ideal tablet to be taken once a day before food for a week
2. Avoid caffeine, smoking, alcohol
3. Avoid milk and milk products
4. Make sure what you eat is bland
5. Always chew on something to stop the hiccoughs, like chewing gum
6. Avoid liquid food. Eat solid food
