What Do Black Dots In MRI Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Mar 2015
Question: Hi, a couple of questions RE a recent MRI. Can you help me?
There are also some black dots all around my scans... I have read they could be bleeds or blood rushing to certain areas, but I'm not sure if this means anything abnormal.
I tried to upload as many screen grabs of my scans as possible since uploading the entire DICOM file set wasn't possible.

Brief Answer:
Black dots in MRI are not abnormal.

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Black dots in MRI are not abnormal. These are called as flow voids and it is due to flowing blood in blood vessels.
Flowing blood doesn't give any signal so it appears dark during imaging.
There is no hemorrhage in brain.
Other findings are normal.
