Question: Hi sir this is ambujam patient son I hope you remember us this is just a follow up question the spine surgery happened for my mom in the month of February , now she is getting recovered slowly . My mom started sitting for more than 3 hours nowadays she is able to stand and walk perfect also but right from the day she got operated As i mentioned you earlier her ESR CRP and rest all parameters are normal now she got a complaint stating that in her left leg she is feeling some nerve dragging kind off sensation and it lasts for three hours and getting cured on its own she is feeling that only while in sleeping position . While walking and sitting no issues at all WE contacted the doctor who operated her he told this is no where related to the spinal problem and he added this may be because of raise in diabetes level :( and he suggested re-nerve injection I would like to add , my last three vacations to XXXXXXX ended in lots of worries due to my mom health at least this time I thought everything will be normal and I can spend good time with my mom :( Please suggest is this something we need to worry

Brief Answer:
Can be low levels of B12.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The mild dragging sensation in the leg on lying down can be due to a mild nerve compression low levels of vitamin B12 or due to bad posture while sleeping. A beat-up mattress that does not give adequate support might cause such sensation. She needs to use a firm mattress preferably a cotton mattress which gives our back a good support.
Maintain fitness with exercises that include back stretching and strengthening exercises under guidance of a physiotherapist. Get her blood vitamin B12 levels evaluated and start with supplements if needed.
I hope this answers your query.

Brief Answer:
She will feel better gradually.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The problem that your mother has is not related to surgery but is an age related problem. The spine undergoes some degenerative changes with age.
Feeling better after just a single injection is a good sign. She will gradually feel better now. Even after the injections she may need oral supplements in case the symptoms recur.
Hope my answer is helpful.

Brief Answer:
Tingling will also decrease.

Detailed Answer:
The tingling sensation can be due to mild nerve root irritation or a mild swelling. This will also decrease on its own or with Vitamin B12 supplements. No need to worry.
