Question: Hey, i am a 27 year old male, who is reasonably fit. I recently discovered a hard tender lump under my nipple, I went to the doctor who sent me for an ultrasound, who confirmed it is mild gynecomastia , he then ran bloods to check my hormone levels, which came back as higher then ranges for males in prolactin and creatine, ive also had a migraine for the first time this week, and headaches. when I got these results I had to see another doctors then my usual cause he was booked out when my results came in, the new one told me to not worry about it and it will go away in a month, i just wanted to check if this is true, cause it's not what the doctor before had told me.

Brief Answer:
Gynecomastia once occur does not go away on its own

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.
Read the history and understood your concerns.
To recapitulate: Male/27 - gynecomastia on ultrasound - high prolactin and creatinine - headache this weeks - 2 Doctors- different opinions - wants to check if this can go away in a month...
Gynecomastia is proliferation male breast glandular tissues and once it occurs can be cured by surgery alone. This is a sort of irreversible process once the glandular tissues of the breast proliferates.
Hence it will not go withing a month or so as advised by your one of the Doctors you visited.
- As for prolactin: this is secreted by the anterior pituitary gland and can increase due to many reasons. Your creatinine levels are also raised.

Please give some additional information:
Is there increase in BUN, Urea levels too?
Have you taken any herbal or other supplements or medication recently?
Is the lump in one breast or both?
Ask the family if you had mumps in childhood?
Married? if yes, Children?

I would advise you the following:
To consult a Nephrologist if creatinine is raised, get a full clinical evaluation about kidneys.

I hope this answers your specific query and helps you further.

Hey, thanks for the answer. I didnt think it would go on its own in a month, as the first doctor said otherwise as well. I did not have mumps as a child, not married, no children, no supplements, or medication, though since the test ive had a headache, so have taken stuff for that, though paracetamol and codine, and ibprofin and codine did nothing for the migraine, and sunlight light hurt.

It started in one side and is only slightly tender on the other side now.

Im unsure if BUN, Urea levels have increased. The only areas of the test that wer above normal ranges where the prolactin and the creatine. e

Brief Answer:
MRI with contrast for Pituitary and brain

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
Increase in prolactin, headache as explained, gynecomastia.
I would advice you to have MRI of the Pituitary and brain with contrast, an opinion of a Neurologist for clinical evaluation and diagnosis.
This will help to diagnose or rule out any problem with pituitary. Please discuss this with your Doctors.
