What Do Lesions On Penis Indicate?

default
Posted on Fri, 11 Jul 2014
Question: I recently went to the doctor because I had two lesions on my penis. He said his clinical impression was that it is not herpes. He felt the lesions were abrasions. The dermatologist came in and took a swab test. Test came back negative. This was a few days after sexual relations with a sex worker.Out of concern for my wife (infidelity was involved, she is unaware) I went to get a std panel test done. I had a positive result for HSV 1. I have never had cold sores on my mouth (at least that myself or my parents can remember). I am now concerned that I may have contracted HSV 1 on my penis. Is this a reasonable concern given the above mentioned? I am highly stressed about this situation. Is it uncommon for someone to have contracted HSV 1 and never had a cold sore? What are the HSV 1 genital to genital transmission rates? Please advise. What can I do to try and figure this out? Also, my lab value was as follows:
Herpes Simplex Virus Type I 15.30 0.00-0.90 Positive 06/09/2014 06/10/2014 .
Also... The ulcer/lesion (whatever it was) has dissapeared after about 5-6 weeks. There is still a very small noticeable area. There was no pain until recently. I am currently starting to feel a burning sensation on my penile shaft.
Does this give a sense of when I may have contracted the infection? It was an IgG test.

Hello
Thanks for choosing wwwhealthcaremagic
You seem to have been infected with Herpes virus and developed Genital Herpes. Although Genital Herpes is caused by Herpes Siplex Type 2 , still the history and other description is very suggestive. You should better use a condom while having sex with your wife . Hopefully the virus has not travelled to her. You should immediately start on Acyclovir therapy. It will reduce the viral shedding. Cold sores are not must, genital herpes is second most common after oral lesion.
