Posted on Tue, 5 Apr 2016
Question: We are planning for our third baby. Our First child is healthy and is 05 yrs, Our second child was diagnosed with Anencephaly, thus pregnancy was aborted at 3 months.
Now after 1 year of abortion, we consulted the Gynae, she suggested for Torch test the report of which has come positive.
She has prescribed my wife Evaserve tablet, Rovamycin forte, Goodova 100 and Duphaston.
Kindly let me know the implication of a positive Torch test result on future pregnancy and whether Goodova100 and Duphaston is at all needed as there shall not be any problem with my in conceiving pregnancy.
Also how is Evaserve better than any generic Folic Acid which are lot cheaper than Evaserve.

Brief Answer:
Not indicated

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Sorry for the delay, I was stuck in an emergency.
I have reviewed the report.
It is completely normal to have increased IgG antibodies if Rubella, which means that your wife is immune to that infection, which is a good sign.
There is absolutely no need of taking Rovamycin for a normal report.
Goodnova is a multivitamin and us not strictly indicated.
Evaserve is folic acid with DHEA , which is given in women with low ovarian reserve.
If you both have no difficulty in conceiving, then it is not indicated.
I will suggest her to take folvite tablet, which is folic acid5 mg, and rest there nothing is indicated.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Thanks Doctor for prompt reply. As you would have seen in the Torch Test report , the levels of Rubella IgG and CMV Virus both are beyond normal levels. Doctor has prescribed Rovamycin Forte and Zovirax 200.
Are these medicines required to be taken considering the increased levels of both infections.
Also kindly tell me the purpose of Duphastan given alongwith Goodova 100.
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Duphastone is progesterone

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
For increased IgG levels, there is no need of giving any medications.
Duphastone is progesterone which is given to make the uterine environment more favourable for conception.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
