What Do My Lab Test Reports Indicate?

default
Posted on Thu, 14 Apr 2016
Question: I have always had a regular 27-30 day cycle. I am now 3 weeks late on my period. Pregnancy test is negative (actively trying to conceive). I have had a private ultrasound scan to see what's going on and I have a cyst on my right ovary. Will the cyst resolve itself my GP isn't concerned and says my cycle should start within 2 weeks. I will upload my blood reports and ultrasound scan. Please explain the ultrasound scan to me and all I want to know is will my periods come back naturally please or do I need to contact my Gynaecologist? Many thanks in advance. Also do you see that I can conceive naturally with my reports? Husband semen analysis and my hormone profile all are good. I have not had tubes tested as been told don't need this test as of yet as all looks good. Do you agree?

Brief Answer:
no get tubes checked

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Welcome to HCM,

Yes, the cyst in the ovary is quite small and should not concern you at present. The hormone levels rule our PCOS. The delayed period could be a one off event and there is no reason why you should not get your periods naturally. Especially since your FSH levels are normal(rules out premature ovarian failure).

But if you are delayed by two weeks you should take progesterone tablets in the form of Duphaston 10 mg thrice a day for 3 days to get your period.

I would not delay your tube test, I do not mean to scare you, but at 40 we do know that ovarian function is going downhill, and if at all the tubes are at fault we will be wasting precious time. Better to rule out tubal problems now than later.

Get a HSG or sonosalphingography done for the tubes. Rule our allergy to XXXXXXX before the HSG.

If at all the tubes show a concern best to consider laparoscopy and XXXXXXX test if abnormality on HSG/Sonosalphingography.

No point waiting, better to rule out all factors and take specific treatment.

Hope this helps.
Regards.

I am not allowed to have HSG until I get BMI down my Consultant wont do it. You do see without progesterone though that I can get my periods back naturally. To be honest with you we haven't really tried for a baby. We are go to try 3 times a week for 6 months and then assess the situation no one thinks there should be a problem

Brief Answer:
Plan weight loss

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,

Yes, I understand your reports don't show a problem, but we need to know if your tubes are fine or not. After 37 the ovarian function gets worse by the year, so waiting for a year and then taking treatment for fertility decreases your chances.

You should plan the weight loss at the earliest and get the HSG soon. High BMI is very problematic in pregnancy also. It can lead to a lot of complications in pregnancy too.

Don't mean to scare you but get the tubes tested soon enough.

Have you done AMH levels?

Regards.

Brief Answer:
yes

Detailed Answer:
Yes, that would be the right plan.

But if losing weight gets to be an issue, you may consult a bariatric surgeon as BMI is more than 40, it could be very difficult to lose weight with just diet.

Bariatric surgery can be considered. It is safe to get pregnant after recovery from bariatric surgery but after 1 year of the procedure.
