What Do My Lab Test Reports Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 4 May 2016
Question: I recently got few tests done through a health camp organized in my office. I am sharing the reports here. There are a few parameters which are out of suggested range. I wanted an opinion whether it's fine or some precautionary measures need to be taken. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Need to lose weight.

Detailed Answer:
HI XXXX

Greetings from Dr.Divakara.P
Thanks for posting your query.

I went through your reports and there are no much of deranged values.

1. Your Calcium levels are low , for that I recommend you to take Calcium supplements ( Shellcal tablet ) for 2 weeks and increase your intake of calcium rich food ( Milk, curds, Ragi, Custard apple, Banana, Fish and Egg ).

2. Low MCHC : There is a mild reduction in MCHC, suggestive of mild Iron deficiency. No need for any Iron supplements but eat Iron rich food like Pomogranate, Papaya,Peanuts, Jaggery, Ragi, Fish , Green leafy Vegetables.

3. Don't worry about elevated BUN/Creatinine ratio, it's fine.

4. Mild Increase in BMI : Need to lose weight by doing daily aerobic exercise for 20-30 minutes.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask.

Regards.

Thanks a lot Doctor for your advice. I had a few follow-up questions, so thought of clarifying the same based on the reports. Sorry for asking this even though you had indicated that tests are normal.

1. The creatinine level is below the normal range (0.51), is that fine
2. Total cholesterol is towards the higher end of the normal range (189), is that okay
3. Red cell distribution width is also indicated to be beyond the normal range (48.8), is that also okay

Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Nothing needs to be done for that.

Detailed Answer:
HI

1. low level of creatinine is not at all a problem.

2. high level of HDL or beneficial cholesterol is not a problem, more over with daily aerobic exercise ( as advised previously ) shall bring down your cholesterol.

3. Don't worry about red blood cell distribution width, it's due to low MCHC. I have told what to be done for low MCHC.

Regards.
