What Do My Lab Test Reports Indicate?
Question: Hi,
I am writing about an issue that I have had for the past few months. I have been having left sided arm pain that seems to begin near my left scapula and goes down my arm to my pinky. Additionally, I have had spells of dizziness. I have been to the ER numerous times and have seen a cardiologist who sent me for a coronary CT angiogram that came out normal. My bloodwork including troponin have been normal. I purchased a phone ECG called AliveCor and have been taking my heart rate every so often to see what is happening and have seen some odd readings. Can you please tell me if this is bad? I am mainly concerned about the high voltage looking beats. Also, is there any idea what can be causing my symptoms if my CT angiogram and other tests (blood work, ecg) have been normal? I am so sick of this.

Mainly I am concerned that this is a heart issue despite the CT Angiogram, ECGs, and bloodwork. Is there anything else it could be? I also have gotten a brain/cervical spine MRI which was normal except for C-spine shows "mild degenerative disc disease".

I can certainly understand your concern.
I have worked through your query in detail.
Since CT angiogram is normal, the possibility of coronary heart disease/CAD is virtually ruled out.
But considering your symptoms, single ECG and reading on KARDIA is not reliable as KARDIA records momentary ECG from only a single lead out of 12 regular leads.
I would like to further evaluate your symptoms for Conducting heart diseases like Arrhythmias that can mimic symptoms of CAD.
Hence, I advise you to take the following tests which are pretty vital in your further assessment.
1. Complete Thyroid profile.
2. 24 Hr Ambulatory Holter ECG.
3. Upper GIT Endoscopy.
The radiating limb pain in your case might not be caused by mild cervical spine disease at the moment.
Therefore further management if any is largely based on above 3 test results .
Once any specific abnormality is detected on these tests, specific drug therapy can be effectively instituted.
Update me with the test results.

Do the two EKGs look abnormal - I noticed a few spikes and it is hard to tell if they are from artifact of actually what is going on in my heart. They seem to always look normal when I'm at home but when I take them at work or at the gym there are always random spikes.

I appreciate your responses. I will see if my doctor will set me up with a holter monitor. He has not wanted to do further testing since he is not concerned, but not knowing is hard for me .
