Recently one of my family member has undegone medical check up and as per report there is some abnomality in heart vall.please refer atached report and advice.
is there any sudden death can happen i mean what is the risk in this illness.
please see details.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir
I have seen your attached documents. I have following observations in this regard.
1. Your ECG shows frequent VPCs (ventricular premature contractions). There are no other markedly abnormal findings.
2. The ECHO report says A. There is paradoxical IVS motion. B. Mild LV systolic dysfunction. C. Mild to Moderate MR. Out of these three, two things require further evaluation. a. What is the cause of paradoxical IVS motion. b. What is the cause of moderate MR. The morphology of mitral valve seems to be normal as they have written all valves are structurally normal. Another important fact is that if paradoxical IVS motion was present in all beats and if MR was moderate in all beats. It is pertinent because the beat with VPC can give rise to both paradoxical IVS motion was well as higher degree of MR. An experienced echocardiographer should be able to point that out and interpret results of only those beats which are normal. Hence, these things need to be rechecked.
3. Regarding your concern about valve disease, First we need to know the exact cause of mild to moderate regurgitation. It is not clear in the report. Most cases with normal valve morphology with mild MR, only require periodic evaluation. In our practice in such cases we advise a second scan after 1 year and if the degree of MR remains same, we advise ECHO after 5 years interval (provided the patient is asymptomatic). For moderate degree of MR, an annual echo is usually required.
4. I would recommend a review echo from an expert echocardiographer, keeping all these facts in mind.
Feel free to discuss further.
Sincerely
