Brief Answer:
Diet, exercise and regular medications are important.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks.
Noted your concern. Reviewed the reports.

Your brother has quite high blood sugars (HbA1c 10.2, FBS >200 and PP 400).
Diet, exercise and Medications are important in the treatment of diabetes.
All three are equally important one is not substitute for other.

Diet:
Please consult any local dietitian who can plan diet for him considering his Height and Weight, his food habits.

Exercise:

With this high blood sugar exercise may not be suggested immediately.
But once blood sugar levels come down below 200mg/dl start with regular exercise.
Usually 150min per week of moderate degree physical activity may be suggested.

Medications:

Follow current prescription as advised by his treating doctor.
Recheck blood sugar after 2 to 3 weeks accordingly further changes in medications may be suggested.

In some cases, with these blood sugar levels insulin treatment may be suggested for rapid control of blood sugar levels.

With oral medications, it may take longer duration to control blood sugar level.
Frequent blood sugar monitoring with regular follow up with treating doctor is important.

Hope this helps.

Dr. Abhay Mali.
