Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that your symptoms seem to be related to Raynaud Phenomenon, which is not related to a heart disorder.

Besides, all your performed cardiac tests have shown a normal heart function and structure and have excluded coronary artery disease.

So, there is nothing to worry about any heart attack! Besides this is not a life-threatening disorder.

But, you should know that Raynaud Phenomenon is caused by spasm of the small arteries supplying the hands and fingers. These spasms are related to endotelial dysfunction (dysfunction of the cells which are part of the arterial walls).

Anyway, I would recommend consulting with your doctor and peforming further tests to exclude other possible secondary causes that may lead to this phenomenon:

- complete blood count
- PCR, ESR for inflammation
- thyroid hormone levels for thyroid dysfunction
- coagulation tests
- renal and liver function tests
- fasting glucose.

Further tests may be needed.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

Hope to have been helpful!

Feel free to ask me again whenever you need!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri

Hello again!

I understand your concern, and would explain that this disorder is not related to the heart.

Dysfunction of the cells of the arterial walls means that the cells part of the small vessels in the limbs (mainly in the hands) can contract as a response to different external stimuli like cold, anxiety, caffeine intake, etc...

You should know that anxiety and cold can trigger this situation.

From the other hand it is not related to blood clots. So, you have nothing to worry about.

As all your performed tests (including immunological tests) have resulted normal, it means that there is not any obvious underlying cause for your symptoms, also called primary Raynaud Phenomenon.

Unfortunately the science has not found any cause for this disorder.

But, it is not a serious medical disorder. There are some medical treatment options (Nifedipine, Iloprost, Epoprostenol, Alprostandil or topical Nitroglycerin), which can help improve your situation.

Being pregnant does not impose you to any increased risk.

I would just recommend avoiding caffeine intake and staying in warm places . You can even hold gloves to keep your hands warm.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Wishing all the best,

Dr. Iliri

My opinion as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

I saw your uploaded photo and it looks like possible Raynaud Phenomena.

Besides, considering all your performed tests, there is nothing to worry about.

Regarding your labor, I would just recommend trying to be active as soon as you can after surgery.

I do not think that you are at an increased risk for blood clots compared to other pregnant women.

This recommendation is for all pregnant women who are going to give birth to a baby. This way, blood does not accumulate in the lower limb veins and there is really low chances of blood clots.

So, relax and try not to think about it!

This is not your first labour. It is all going to be OK even this time.

Wishing all the best,

Dr. Iliri

Hello again!

Yes, it looks like Raynaud Phenomena, but a mild form.

As all other tests (cardiac tests and blood lab tests) have excluded other possible causes, I can not find any other possible cause.

So, relax and do not worry about it!

Everything is going to be OK!

Wishing good health,

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

As all your cardiac tests have resulted normal, I would like to reassure you that your symptoms are not related to any cardiac disorder.

Gastro-esophageal reflux could be the cause of your symptoms. I recommend trying an antiacid. You should know that this is a very common disorder during pregnancy.

Regarding the pain in the arms, they could be related to an electrolyte imbalance or calcium deficiency. I recommend taking calcium supplements too.

But, you have nothing to worry because all your symptoms do not indicate anything serious.

Hope to have clarified some of your uncertainties.

Regards,

Dr. Iliri

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms seem to be related to indigestion or gastro-esophageal reflux.

It is caused because of the stomach distension.

I would just recommend eating in small portions, more frequently during the day and avoiding large meals.

Avoiding caffeine intake and spicy food can also help.

I would also advise you to take an antiacid during those episodes. I am sure it will help relieve your symptoms.

But, again, I would like to reassure you that these symptoms have nothing to do with the heart.

So, relax and don't worry about it!

Wishing good health,
