What Do My Lab Test Reports Indicate?

default
Posted on Sat, 23 Sep 2017
Question: Hello,

I have a 2cm enlarged submandibular gland and have had root canals and a tooth extraction on that side. I have had CT scans and biopsy to find nothing. How does a dentist tell if there is some underlying infection in these teeth?

Brief Answer:
Please answer my few questions. If possible attach few images and reports.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Alli.

Thanks for consulting HealthcareMagic.
This is Dr. Priyanka Tiwari answering your query.

I have read your query and understand your concern. As far as submandibular gland region swelling is concerned this can be due to salivary stones, enlarged lymph nodes, tooth infection, gums infection or remaining root of the extracted tooth.

Can you please upload an image of teeth and gum of swelling region that would be helpful for me to give you a proper diagnosis.

Please answer me few questions :
1- Do you have pain in gums or teeth associated with swelling?
2- Does size of your swelling increases or decrease?
3- Does the swelling is present under the tongue?

Awaiting the details to comment further.

Thanks
