Posted on Thu, 12 May 2016
Question: Hi..i am 30 year old male...for past six months I have stomach problems...details of tests..

Endoscopy- Oct 2015- Mild antral amd corporal gastritis. Same day Abd ultrasound...normal study...blood test.. Normal...

Dec 2015: Colonoscopy...result was normal study...they did this test as I had loose motion for a month...one time in a day.. Gradual solid to loose stools...

On February 15, 2016 I went to hospital again with weight loss...8 kg in past six months...doctor was concerned and ordered a CT abdomen and repeat previous blood test along with additional TSH and CEA...
Blood test was normal... CT also was normal...

Finally doctor told weight loss is due to my health anxiety...

With this background...three days back suddenly I had loose motion with fishy smell and that night stomach pain upper middle and back pain with burping...it lasted for a night and next day it gradually reduced...now I have same old problem One motion per day but solid gradually to watery stool...for emergency I met a nearby general physician.. He asked me do u have pancreatitis...Frm then I am very much worried abt it....i heard people with pancreatitis cannot live after 40 years..do I have pancreatitis? Or no as my CT scan taken 15 days back is normal...or my gastritis is cause of this problems? Or something else....
By the way I never smoked or drank in my lifetime even once...

I am deeply worried...pls help..

Brief Answer:
Pancreatitis less likely

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
Thank you for the post.
I have read your query and understand your concern.

People with pancreatitis do live beyond 40 and can have abnormal life span. If your CT is normal its unlikely that you have pancreatitis.
I would suggest to get a serum lipase test done .If its negative then its not pancreatitis. Symptoms could be due to gastritis or intestinal colic.
Visit your doctor to get a prescription for a antispasmodic

Hope this helps,
Feel free to ask further queries.

Brief Answer:
4-6 weeks

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome back.
Pancreatic pain can be similar to gastric pain and is usually more severe. It radiates to the back( that's the reason your doctor must have thought of pancreatitis). Please get serum lipase levels done to rule out pancreatitis. take nexpro twice a.day for atleast six weeks.

Hope this helps

Hello Doctor...
Sorry for being emotional....i am very tired of doing very hard tests like colonoscopy and ct scan and taking tablets all the time at this young age but all coming out normal disappointing everyone around me....nevertheless i will do lipase test... But I want to know what would have happened in these 15 days that would have landed me in pancreatitis...even i was not eating anything bad fearing gastritis pain...

Brief Answer:
Its not pancreatitis till lipase is positive

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I understand the problems you are facing. If your lipase is normal or less than two times upper limit of normal then you dont have pancreatitis. So don't worry about it your tests might come negative
