What Do My Lab Test Results Indicate?

I am a 32 year old hyper obese male. i weigh 170 kgs. All my vitals were normal till last 2-3 months. I am regular alcoholic. smokes 5-7 cigarettes a day. suddenly my SGOT XXXXXXX to 116 and SGPT to 152. Is it very dangerous? I am yet to consult a gastro. Will it come down if i quit alcohol?
NOT dangerous and yes, they may come down to normal.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,
I have gone through your query and understand the concern.
Your SGPT-152 and SGOT-116 are slightly elevated (but not too high) and they do not have any clinical significance especially in the absence clinical symptoms.
Serum SGPT and SGOT are highly sensitive liver function tests,so they get easily raised following fatty meal or even few alcohol drinks since you are a regular alcoholic.
But they are NOT dangerous and probably they will come down to normal by themselves within few days or by quitting further alcohol intake.
So,there is NO need to worry about this slight elevation of LFTs.
However, you can take tab.Udilive 300mg which is a liver enzyme supplement after consulting to your doctor.
As you are going to see gastroenterologist who may prescribe it.
Further,I will suggest you to undergo ultrasound of liver to assess the liver condition since you are severe obese (weight 170 kg) but be assured that SGPT and SGOT are not dangerous.
Hope this helps.Let me know if you have more doubts.
