What Do Pain During Urination And Sores On Penis Tip After Unprotected Intercourse Indicate?

Question: I suspected a uti after unprotected anal sex because a few days later it hurt when I would urinate. I went to get a urine test and was proscribed 500mg cipro twice daily for a week. After I started taking the abx I noticed two little sores on my penis. One on the head the other below the head. I got the lab results back and the urine test came back negative for uti. It seems the pain has gone away for the most part while urinating but what could cause this if its not a uti? What caused these sores?

Brief Answer:
Might be herpes simplex.

Detailed Answer:
Good Day and thank you for being with Healthcare Magic!

I am glad you were tested to be negative for UTI. You'll have to be tested for Herpes simplex I and II. The sores that you have described sounds like herpes. You'll be needing anti viral therapy if you turn out to be positive for it in the form of valacyclovir.

I would suggest to get tested and treated right away to prevent recurrences in the future.

Brief Answer:
Pls see detailed answer.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for your follow up question. Eventhough your partner came out clean UTI can be caused by plenty of bacteria and not necessarily by STDs.

Doxycycline and azithromycin is not known to cause orchitis so I don't think the medicine is the cause of your scrotal pain.

I dont think were on the same page. Ive been taking ciprofloxacin, for possible uti bevause i had pain while urinating. Result was negative for uti. While i was on the cipro i noticed two little sores, kinda looks like a zit. Could that be caused by the cipro? A reaction of sorts? And not herpes My partner has been tested for stds and came back clean, ive only been with one other besides her who was also clean?

Brief Answer:
Pls see detailed answer.

Detailed Answer:
Ciprofloxacin doesn't cause skin lesions or zit although I have seen cases where because of the antibiotic there is proliferation of fungal elements which can can cause skin lesions and infections.

I suggest seeing a urologist so he can do a complete physical examination and assess your skin lesions properly.

Brief Answer:
You may try OTC anti fungals.

Detailed Answer:
Honestly I have no idea on how much will be the cost of seeing a specialist in your local area. You may try over the counter anti fungal ointments and apply it the the lesions. If it worsens or persists then it will be prudent to seek a specialist consultation.
