What Do Pain In The Back And Shoulders After Stopping Alcohol Indicate?

Question: Pain started in one shoulder. I thought strain from typing at my computer with my head turned.
I recently, (last Wednesday) quit drinking cold turkey,. I have been doing fine. Thursday I stayed up very late working...late for me to stay up. When I went to bed, that is when I started to notice the aching in both shoulder blades and down the sides of my back. I have pain in both shoulder blades and down each side of my back. Had a sort of sore/scratchy throat that seems to be subsiding. Feel sort of like I am getting the flu. Tired and eyes hurt. Concerned about a bad reaction to "cold turkey". (5 or more wines per day for a few years). Read in a folklore book that honey would help you quit. I ate a half cup to a cup a day for a few days and now the urge to have a drink is gone. Wonder if I have a symptom of that or just may have caught something?

Is this confidential?

Will I be billed every month $15?

I have also been taking zicam and lots of vitamin C

Brief Answer:
This episode seems to be due to muscle strain

Detailed Answer:
Hi welcome to Health care magic,

This episode seems to be due to the fact you worked for a long time leading to muscle strain in back and shoulders as you have correctly assessed.

The throat irritation is due to mild GERD.

Massage with hot oil is the best treatment. But if very severe, take Tylenol/Motrin along with Omeprazole for two days.

But do check your blood pressure as you are a hypertensive and if you feel no early relief, getting an ECG done is also not a bad idea.

I do not think you have caught anything and it is related to the honey you consumed. But if you get fever, report to your doctor.

You can revert back.

Regards
