What Do Prolonged Periods And Pressure Sensation In The Abdomen Indicate?

Question: This one is an OB/GYN question. When I was a teenager, my periods were typically 7-8 days, with heavier bleeding during the first half and killer cramps. My periods gradually became lighter and shorter, and by age 30 consisted of a few drops of blood on one afternoon; that's been the case for the past 6 years. Last week I had a period that lasted five days, and just like when I was 15, I had to change pads about four times in a day. The good news is that the abdominal pressure that I'd been feeling constantly for the previous few weeks decreased markedly. Do I consider those super-light periods spotting, and is that recent long period a signal that something's wrong?
Brief Answer:
It could be due to hormonal changes.

Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting hcm about your health care.
I have gone through your history and understand your concerns.
These period changes could be due to hormonal changes .
You should get your pelvic ultrasound to rule out the cause, Hb and thyroid profile.
Maybe it is only due to hormonal changes and no other cause for the same.

Good luck.
