Hello. Thank you for writing to us.

I am Dr. Kakkar (Dermatologist). I have gone through your query and I have noted your concern.

Perhaps it is pityriasis Rosea - it presents as oval patches (resemble ring worm) with fine scaling and is arranged in a fir tree pattern along the ribs. Pityriasis rosea is not itchy unlike tinea/ fungal infection. There is a history of a mother patch/ herald patch which appears first and is then followed by crops of similar looking smaller patches on trunk and proximal extremities. I request you to kindly upload a few images of the rash in "Reports Section" so that I am able to confirm and guide you better.

Brief Answer:
Pityriasis rosea

Detailed Answer:
thank you. I can see red, oval patches on the flanks and abdomen.

I would like to treate it as a case of pityriasis rosea. You may use a moderately potent topical steroid cream e g either mometasone furoate 0.1% cream or triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% cream, twice daily for 2 weeks. These are prescription topical steroids.
I also recommend oral erythromycin for 2 weeks in my patients with pityriasis rosea.
