What Do Red And Itchy Patches Penis Indicate?
Question: Since last one year red pathes appear on the top of my pennis. They are itching. smell bad. when I use XXXXXXX XXXXXXX it disappears, but come again after few days. I keep my pennis clean. wash it everyday even by moving the skin backward. cleanliness is absolute. I indulge in intercourse with my GF once in a month.

There are many causes of red rashes on the penis but your history and symptoms suggest that you may be having either Candidiasis or Balanitis. If you can upload a photo of the lesions, I will be better able to help.
Candidiasis is an infection caused by the Candida fungus. If your penis is swollen, intensely itchy and very red you probably have Candida infection. Occasionally this can be the first sign of diabetes, so check your blood sugar levels. It is cured with antifungal cream like Ketoconazole or clotrimazole.
Balanitis is an inflammation of the glans penis or penis head that results in a swelling and a rash that itches. It can appear soon after intercourse, but disappears within about a day. This is probably caused by allergy to thrush in your partners vagina. Avoid sex and hot showers, so you don't irritate the skin of penis.
As it keeps coming back, you have to subject yourself for physical examination to make a proper diagnosis and to take adequate treatment.

Thanks for the reply. I've attached 3 photographs taken today for your perusal.
1. In April I had checked sugar level. It was Fasting - 117 and P.P. : 150. HbA1C : 6.30. I am taking Glycomate 250 before lunch and dinner.
2. I don't observe any swelling of penis when red patches are there but itching is surely there.
3. For me sex is very occasional. Even if I don't indulge in sex the rash remains.
Shall I apply the cream suggested by you ?

1.Clean the genitals regularly and keep it dry.

In addition, I would also start you on single dose Tab Diflucan and oral antihistamines. These are prescription only medicines which your doctors will know about.
The aforementioned measures will help to control the symptoms and improve your condition. These medicines are available only on prescription from your doctor. I would suggest you to consult your dermatologist for the physical examination and the prescription of the medicines.
