Question: My 65th birthday will occur this comimg August 2017. I am a kidney transplant patient since July 2000. Since the transplant I have restless leg and neuropathy in both legs and feeet. The doctors prescriped Gabapentin and Ropinirole ER to treat these symptoms. will be changing over to a drug supplemental plan starting August 1st. Ropinirole is half of my over all monthly drug XXXXXXX (16 drugs total). Is there a substitute for the Ropinirole while not increasing side effects? If so what is the name of the drug?

Brief Answer:
Yes there are few alternatives

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.

I understand your concerns. First alternative would be to try for generic ropinirole, which is cheaper and equally effective. If not available, you can discuss with your doc regarding switching to gabapentin alone at higher doses.

If none of these works you can consider pramiprexole which is very similar to ropinirole. If that turns out to be cheaper, it can help you.

Hope this helps.
Regards
