What Do Stabbing Sensation And Pain After Placing Mirena Indicate?

default
Posted on Tue, 13 Oct 2015
Question: I have had Mirena (birth control )inserted a few weeks ago which was 7 weeks after my last pregnancy. I have been having my period for about ten days now and have started having pain today on my tenth day. the pain comes and goes in waves of sharp stabbing sensations (whether I have been moving or sitting still). I am worried that something is wrong with the Mirena is there a way my doctor can check to make sure it hasn't moved or has become lodged into the wall in my uterus. my bleeding is still very red not as heavy as it was 5 days ago but it doesn't look like it's ready to stop

Brief Answer:
Mirena neds to examined

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns about mirena.

Following is my reply:

1) Uterus keeps retracting by trying to return to its normal position slowly over 12 weeks after delivery.

2) Mirena which was inserted at 7 weeks is slowly trying to adust to new shrinked uterus size. That is the reason for pain and bleeding.

3) You can get the mirena position examined by your doctor. DOctor will be able to check its position and even do an ultrasound examination to check its position.
