Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all, it is sad to know what your husband had gone through.

Based on the history you have shared, Yes it is something to be concerned about and needs immediate evaluation as it can be ulcer bleed. To start with some basic blood work up like complete blood count and Clotting profile needs to be done and it should be followed by injectable antacids like omeperazole. Also look for any signs of black stools and blood pressures need to be monitored as blood loss or recurrent vomitings can present with signs of fluid loss and that should also be replaced.

The need for upper GI tract endoscopy or oesophagoduodenoscopy is a must with this history to rule out any actively bleeding Gastric ulcer alongwith ultrasound abdomen to rule out any signs of liver disease. Meanwhile continue using antacids like omeperazole or pantoprazole before meals and motility agents like domperidone and avoid spicy, high protien or fat diets.

Wishing him a quick recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
