Brief Answer:
It can be Absence Seizures where you don't get convulsions

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HealthCareMagic.com I am Dr.Bruno Mascarenhas, and I am happy to answer your queries. I have read your question with care and understand that the 8 month old kid has history of
1. Sudden Collapse
2. Unconsciousness
3. Gets back to consciousness after sprinkling water
4. This is getting repeated multiple times

Your doctor has also told you that there are some issues with EEG
You have a doubt whether this is epilepsy or not.

Let me help you

Epilepsy ("seizure disorders") or is the fourth most common neurological disorder and affects people of all ages. This is because of abnormal electrical activity inside the brain.

Each Area in Brain has different functions. There is a part called Motor Cortex which is involved in our Head, Neck, Trunk, Hand, Leg movements. Similarly Sensory Cortex received the inputs from Skin. Visual Cortex processes Vision and so on

Epilepsy is a spectrum condition with a wide range of seizure types and control varying from person-to-person. Any Area can get a seizure and the symptom will be based on the area in which there is seizure

If the motor cortex is involved, the patient will have convulsions.
If the motor cortex is not involved, patient may not have convulsions. There may be occasional Loss of Consciousness, Collapse, Followed by Regaining Consciousness and Headache.

These are called as Absence Seizures. There may not be any convulsive moments of arms and legs and this is usually confirmed by EEG

Based on what you have told, I opine that the kid must have Absence Seizures.
Please Don't worry. This can be controlled with Proper Drugs

Dear Sir,

Welcome Back to HealthCareMagic !

You have mentioned that your wife has this problem only for one year. I would like to know whether it started during pregnancy.

If the Seizures had started during pregnancy, then the chance of control of Seizures is very high after delivery.
