What Do The Attached Reports Indicate?
Question: Hello doctor, my 3 week old son got a fever of 100.4F which increased irrespevtive of small doses of paracetomol to 101.F. We took some tests and I have attached the reports. A full sepsis screening was done including spinal tap. Piptaz and amikacin were the antibiotics prescribed for 7 days. An ultrasound was done(KUB) and I have attached the report also. His fever stabilized by day 1 and we were discharged after 7 days. Enterococcus was found in the urine culture. What do we need to do in follow up doctor? We are very worried. Is there a possibilty the kidneys could have been damaged? Please advice. His initial Crp value was 62 which came down to 3 after teo days of antiobiotics. Two sets od blood count and culture were taken. I have attches all the reports kindly take a look and please advice.
Brief Answer:
Treatment is proper
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. The treatment is in proper lines. I hope that the 7 day course of antibiotics has been completed. Since the CRP level has come down you have no reason to worry. You need to go for a follow up with the doctor. He will be able to evaluate the child and suggest if things are fine.
A DTPA and/or DMSA scan after 6 weeks will help in ruling out any kidney damage.
Let me know if I could help further.
Regards
