What Do The Following LFT And Ultrasound Reports Indicate?
and also CBC showing he is beta thallesimia minor.
please suggest wht does it mean i m getting so much tensed.
SGOT & SGPT mildly increased, minor thallasemia is well tolerated
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query on HCM,
The normal biological interval of SGOT and SGPT is 0-40 IU/L.
Thus, both your SGPT and SGOT are raised at levels 54 and 119 IU/L.
Both these enzymes can be raised in liver disorders and are due to break down of liver cells or hepatocytes.
Causes for high SGOT and SGPT are hepatitis, alcoholism, drugs, toxins to name the most common cause.
Hepatitis is most commonly viral.
Negative test for hepatitis B and C virus is normal.
In case you consume alcohol, reduction or stoppage can bring the liver enzymes to normal.
In case you are taking any drug, that may the cause of raised liver enzymes.
I suggest you to consult your physician for clinical correlation.
Beta thallasemia minor is a hemoglobinopathy.
It is characterised by mild anemia, mild splenomegaly may occur and blood transfusion may be required in time of stress.
Since the thallasemia is minor, the disease is well tolerated and complications are rare.
I suggest you to consult a hematologist for further investigations if required, counselling and for follow up.
Thanks and take care

Hypoechoic liver on ultrasound is suggestive of acute hepatitis
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome again,
Hypoechoic or reduction in echogenicity liver is suggestive of acute hepatitis.
It can also occur in other disorders but acute hepatitis is most probable according to the laboratory parameters.
The echogenicity will become normal once hepatitis resolves.
