What Do The Following Blood Test Reports Indicate?

Question: I had blood tests for various issues -including a possibility of blood clot. I'm not showing any outward signs, am 50 years old but have several risk factors. My D Dimer came back at 930.0 ng/ml. I called cardiologist and he said not to worry, it wasn't that high and could be other things. I will see him on Monday. I researched it on the internet and it looks like anything over 500 ng/ml is high. Do I need to go to an ER?
Brief Answer:
no need for ER
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
D-dimers of 930 are not concerning finding especially if you dont have symptoms such as breathing difficulties or leg swelling. Normal values of D-dimers are up to 500 but in some laboartories even up to 900. Also, higher d dimers are seen in many conditions and sometimes in healthy people as well. Smoking, certain food, exercise can affect it as well. 900 is considered insignificant in case where no symptoms exist. So I suggest to repeat ddimers in 3-4 days and see its dynamic. There is no need to rush to ER unless symptoms occur. WIsh you good health. Regards
