Hi,
As per your issue regarding elevated
d dimer I want to know further history, like any fever, any swelling, pain abdomen, history of any bleeding.
Elevated d dimer indicates chances of blood can thickens and forms clots and blocks blood vessels. It is elevated in:
1)
Thrombosis of vessels
2) Severe infection
3) Disseminated intra-vascular coagulation
If I was your treating doctor I want to know what
D-dimer was done for. It is not relation to
hepatitis B. False positives are very rare. Hence, it is better go with Doppler study of upper and lower
limbs or consult vascular surgeon or cardiologist for complete analysis of all vessels.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Tata Lokesh Kumar, General Surgeon
