What Do The Following Blood Test Reports Indicate?
Question: Hello Doctor,
I just did a full body checkup report from Thyrocare. While I see problems with Vitamin D deficiency, my cholesterol levels and the sugar control being fair and not excellent, can you please review the report and advise me further course of action. I do not see an option to attach my report on this page.

Brief Answer:
HbA1c of 7.2 denote good blood sugar control.
Detailed Answer:
HbA1c of 7.2 denote good blood sugar control.
But duration of diabetes and fasting and post prandial blood sugar levels should also be considered along with HbA1c level for estimation of blood sugar control.
I cannot see your reports.
Lipid profile:
LDL cholesterol in diabetic patient should be below 100 (as low as possible) and HDL cholesterol should be above 35 (as high as possible).
Depending upon cholesterol values appropriate dose of rosuvastatin (content of Rosavel) may be suggested.
Hope this helps you.

Hello Doctor
Thanks for your response. Just had 1 query about Gemer 2 tablet which I take for sugar. Each strip comes with a contraindication warning regarding the pioglitazone element of the medicine. Is there any other tablet which I can take as the contraindications are pretty scary.

Brief Answer:
Pioglitazone is a very effective antidiabetic medicine.
Detailed Answer:
Leave decision regarding continuation of Pioglitazone on your treating diabetologist.

There are certain issues with use of Pioglitazone
- Weight gain.
- Swelling over lower legs.
- Osteoporotic bone fracture more common in postmenopausal women.
- Some case reports Urinary bladder cancer in patients using pioglitazone. Though occurrence of urinary bladder cancer in patients using pioglitazone is same as that in general population.
Pioglitazone is a very effective antidaibetic medicine.
So discuss all these issues with your treating diaabetologist.
