Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve been taking Crestor 5 mg for approx one month and lately am experiencing a general itching but also have a swollenpelvic area with severe itching. I m 60 yrs old and am taking vitamins including vitamin D, Omega 3 and Cal-mag. Could the itching be the result of taking Crestor?
Yes, Crestor (rosuvastatin) is a medication commonly prescribed to lower cholesterol levels. It is possible for Crestor to cause itching as a side effect. Although not everyone experiences this side effect, some individuals may develop itching or other skin reactions while taking the medication. You can apply Calamine lotion at the affected areas. If itchiness still persists or aggravate than do consult with your respective consultant to change this medicine or give an alternative.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Fahum Akhter, General & Family Physician
