Question: my brain MRI results: scattered foci of FLAIR hyper signal intensity is present in white matter of cerebral hemispheres, nonspecific finding likely microvascular angiopaty and sequela of vasospasm.
What does this mean??

Hi XXXXXXX I can understand your concern,

These are also called lacunar infarcts--small areas of brain tissue that have died from small blood vessel disease. In general we see them quite often in patients over the age of 60 and they don't cause any symptoms like headaches, vision changes, facial drooping--typical stroke symptoms.

Your doctor may elect to put you on a daily aspirin regimen or Plavix considering the results of this MRI.
