Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to Health Care magic, I am Dr , Muhammad Ahmad , I have read your question closely, I understand your concern and will be helping you with your health related problem.
Desmoplastic small round blue cell tumor is a rare but aggressive form of cancer, by aggressive , i mean it spreads really quick compared to most other cancers you would come across.
It is usually found in abdomen of the patient causes small masses and tumor like swelling inside which may or may not be detected from the outside. The biggest problem with this cancer is that it is doesn't cause any early symptoms and remains silent until it's well spread in the body, and usually when it's detected , it's hard to get rid of it.
There is no definite treatment discovered yet for this type of cancer , so unfortunately it's going to be a tough fight for your family. There are treatment options which are used to try and treat the cancer, but failure rates are quite high. But on the other hand there have been cases who survived the cancer and lived a long life, important factors that determine success of treatment are , age , general health of patient, spread of cancer, severity of cancer, and stage at which it is detected, earlier detection will have more chances to recover. Treatment options are Chemotherapy, surgery, radiation therapy and maintenance chemotherapy , all these treatments are done together to get rid of the cancer.
I would suggest you to immediately get the treatment started as advised by your oncologist, keep spirits high , the only way to fight a cancer well is one's will power , but do make up your mind that is cancer is very dangerous. All my best wishes are with your grandson and the family. I pray you get out of it soon and successfully.
I hope this answered your question, If you have more queries I am happy to answer you.
Regards.
