Question: I had an accident and due to which there was a severe damage to my back. Please see attached report.

Doctor suggested METHYNEURON G which contains gabapentin 300 mg and Mecobalamin 500 mg. My question, is this drug really recommended to be taken when someone has issue like me. I am not taking this medicine anymore but took for around 10 days.

I am still having a pain in my back but i am worried as i have not taken this medicine would my nerve system to be in ok condition, should i take this medicine or just let my nerve system to be getting o.k by itself.

I am about to have some medical test where some one may check my blood sample to find any kind of narcotic, i am taking.

Suppose, i have taken this medicine then how many days, this medicine effect remains in the blood sample?

Please clarify.

Brief Answer:
Medicine not essential for nerve function. It won't appear in narcotic test

Detailed Answer:
Hi there

Thanks for the query

This drug will not be shown in your narcotic blood test because it is not a narcotic.

This medicine is for nerve compression pain. In your case you have lumbar canal stenosis, where the nerve roots are being compressed.

If you don't take this medicine, nothing will get worse with the nerve structure or function. This medicine is only for pain management.

If you can manage without it, you may.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Brief Answer:
Lumbar canal stenosis some slip disc. Conservative vs operative

Detailed Answer:
Your spinal bony canal is narrowed and also a slip disc compressing the nerve roots.

If you have significant symptoms like back pain radiating to the legs, tingling or numbness which is not responding to physiotherapy and medication, then surgery may be indicated to give you relief.
