What Do These AST And ALT Levels Indicate?

Question: Hello, I am a 32 year old female that has done some blood work and 4 liver tests were conducted, all were normal except at AST which was at 93. My ALT was 27. Can you tell me what this means?

I read your query and understood your concerns.

Your AST levels is slightly elevated, however it doesn't put you on immediate risk and you shouldn't worry for the moment. High AST levels with normal ALT may be caused by:
- Alcohol abuse
- Hepatotoxic medications
- viral infection

This is why I strongly recommend to stop drinking alcohol and to repeat the test 6-8 weeks of abstinence. Moreover If you are taking any medication or herbal medicine you should stop taking it. Can you upload a list of medications you are taking?
